Culture Foods Counted
Privacy policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Culture Foods Counted ("CFC") is provided by LINBETTA Ltd ("we", "us"). CFC helps adults track the food they eat, including African and Caribbean foods, and see their day in green, amber or red. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, or the details Apple or Google share when you choose Continue with Apple or Continue with Google (your name and email, which can be a private relay address from Apple). If you use a password, it is stored scrambled (hashed) by our database provider. We never see it.
- Your profile: first name, sex, age, height, weight, target weight, activity level and the cuisines you choose. We use these to work out your daily calorie allowance.
- Your diary: the foods and drinks you log (including alcohol), portion sizes, meals, water, steps you enter, exercise, weights, body measurements, and cravings with the mood, time and place you choose to record.
- Food searches: the words you type when you ask the AI about a food, and the description of any exercise you ask it to work out.
- Subscription status: whether you have Premium, which plan, and when it renews or ends. We never see your card or bank details. Apple handles payment.
- A random number for your phone: used only to apply the daily limit on AI searches. It is not linked to your name or account.
Your profile and diary describe your body and eating habits, which can count as health information. You choose what to enter. We only use it to run CFC for you, and you can delete it at any time.
We do not show adverts, we do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell your data.
How we use it
- To save your diary to your account, so it is there on any phone you sign in on.
- To work out your allowance, colours, progress, analytics and craving insights.
- To identify foods and estimate exercise with AI when you ask.
- To send the emails you need: your sign-up code and password reset codes.
- To give you Premium when you subscribe, and to answer support requests.
AI food search
When you tap Ask AI, or ask CFC to work out an exercise, the words you typed are sent from our server to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model. For exercise estimates we also send your age, sex and weight so the estimate fits you. We do not send your name, email or diary. Anthropic does not use this to train its models. AI answers about foods are saved without any personal details, so the next person who searches for the same food gets a faster answer.
Who we share it with
We use these services to run CFC. Each one only receives what it needs:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in provider. Your account and diary are stored in its London (UK) data centre.
- Anthropic: AI food and exercise answers, as described above.
- Apple: payments for Premium, Sign in with Apple and app delivery.
- RevenueCat: manages Premium subscriptions. It receives a random account number and your purchase details from Apple, not your name or diary.
- Google: only if you choose Continue with Google, to confirm who you are.
- Our email provider: to deliver sign-in and password codes.
- Vercel: hosts our website.
- The police or courts, only when the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Our legal basis
We use your account and diary to provide the service you asked for. We use health-related information (such as your weight and what you eat) because you choose to give it to us for that purpose; you can withdraw by deleting it or your account. We keep payment records because the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and diary until you delete your account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, diary, weights, measurements, cravings and subscription record from our database straight away. Daily AI search counts for your phone are deleted after 30 days. Apple keeps its own record of your purchases.
Your rights
You can see and change your details in the app at any time. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it, by emailing linda@linbetta.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
CFC is for people aged 18 and over. Calorie tracking is not suitable for children. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will delete it.
Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections and stored in a database where each person can only reach their own records. No system is perfect, so please keep your password private and sign out of shared phones.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app when the change is important.
